There’s a lot of concern in the ag sector about Agriculture Canada’s decision to eliminate the Sprayer Technology Program as part of its budget cuts.

The move shuts the door on the research being done by Dr. Tom Wolf in Saskatoon.

Gerrid Gust is a farmer in the Davidson area and Chair of the Western Canadian Wheat Growers Association. He says farmers really benefit from the research being done with the high cost of inputs today.

"They're worth too much money to just blow away in the wind," says Gust. "With Dr. Wolf's work, we can make things work better and more efficiently, and get the absolute most effective use out of these technologies that we can."

Gust says it’s a program they would like to see remain in place and encourages farmers to take an active role in trying to maintain the program by contacting their local MPs.
