"Profiting Through Productivity" - that's the theme for the 99th Saskatchewan Stock Growers' Convention, AGM and Tour set for May 27th through 29th in the Cypress Hills.

Stock Growers' President Harold Martens says among the topics to be discussed will be price insurance, something that the Saskatchewan livestock industry has been looking at.

"It's somewhat used in Alberta through the feeder end of it," said Martens. "We need to take a look at what is making it work there and what isn't. As a national discussion takes places, we need to understand how that impacts on all of the sectors of the cattle industry. So, it's going to be an interesting discussion."

Martens added that this event will also mark one of the final public appearances for Agriculture Minister Bob Bjornerud, who is stepping back from the portfolio.

You can still register for the convention by calling 306-757-8523 or by visiting skstockgrowers.com.
