Trading of shares in Viterra, Western Canada's largest grain handler, was halted today after the company acknowledged the possibility it could be taken over.
A statement from its head office acknowledged it has "received expressions of interest" from unnamed third-parties.
Its stock rose nearly 25% in early afternoon trade.
