The recent wet weather is impacting cattlemen…. as well as farmers looking to get this years crop in the ground.

“Producers who are trying to deliever feeder cattle to some of these final presorted cattle sales this week. Really finding it challenging to get animals off farms and moved to town,” said Grant Zalink a Cattle Market Analyst with Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Agriculture, “And those who are looking to buy feeder cattle right now are facing some pretty wet pen conditions.”

He adds that the recent wet weather has made it challenging to bring the animals to town while sloppy pen conditions are also limiting feedlot activity and impacting prices, “Price is down anywhere from $1.50 to $3.00, a hundred weight heavy or 800 pound hefer down nearly $5.00, hundred weight to average $120.00 on an 850 weight hefer.”
