The Western Canadian Wheat Growers Association has submitted its own transition plan for the Canadian Wheat Board.

Director Mike Bast explains their proposal calls for the dismissal of the existing CWB Board of Directors, and the implementation of an interim board no later than January 31st of 2012.

The Wheat Growers also propose having the CWB issue ownership shares to all farmers who have delivered grain in the last six years.

Meanwhile, Wheat Board Chairman Allen Oberg says the transition plan put forward by the Wheat Growers falls short in creating a sustainable voluntary CWB.

He says the CWB is concerned about the lack of farmer and industry representation in the working group, and adds they need to know what Ottawa is willing to provide, before the directors decide on the future of the board.
