Farmers are busy getting ready to start spring seeding activities, and the staff at Wheatland Conservation Area are preparing for another busy season as well.

Wheatland is a non-profit producer run applied research facility that conducts research, demonstrates and extend practical agronomics to producers, and is one of eight Agri-ARM research sites in the province with a number of ADOPT trials in place for this year.

"We're working with a fungicide again, we're doing some soybean work, we're doing some work with these new plant growth regulators that are just coming out on the market, and some forage work as well," said Bryan Nybo, Farm Manager at Wheatland Conservation Area. "That's over and above all of the industry projects that we'll be running this year, and all the work with universities and commodity groups."

Nybo adds that along with the ADOPT trials, they do a number of industry trials as well

"A lot of industry trials are just demos, so we set out a plot with their product or technology in it, and we use that plot as a venue so the industry can come to our tours and talk about their new products," he added.

While seeding operations are underway now, Wheatland has set a tentative date Of July 16th for its annual field day.
