The community of Gravelbourg is set to host their second annual Secret Garden Handmade and Vintage Market this summer, on August 13 at the old Gravelbourg Jesus and Mary Convent grounds.

Anna Smandych, the president of the Gravelbourg Artisan Cooperative (GAC) and market manager for the event, said the market accepts everything handmade, from photography, pottery, and jewelry to plants, produce, and preserves.

"Our co op wants to build a community of artists," Smandych explained. "The more we can branch out and get to know people, we can hold more workshops and bigger events."

Last year, artists from Gravelbourg, Saskatoon, Moosejaw, Regina, Maple Creek, and more, attended the market as vendors.

Smandych stated the aspiration for the event is to help local makers find a way to share their handmade work with the world, and the GAC is still welcoming curious artisans to apply.

Though the main focus, a variety of vintage furniture and handmade art isn't the only thing Swift Current residents can expect to find when attending the market.  Enjoy local artists busking throughout the day while you browse and tours of the convent arranged by the Gravelbourg Museum.

Anyone interested in signing up to become a vendor can contact the Gravelbourg Artisan Cooperative through their social media pages.
