It's a big honour for a few southwest communities.

The City of Swift Current and Towns of Herbert, Morse, and Kyle will see the 2010 Olympic torch come through on its journey to Vancouver.

Swift Current was named one of the communities where the torch will stop for a celebration, which will take place the evening of January 10, 2010.

Mayor Sandy Larson was pleased with the announcement, and says the city is very honoured that the torch will be passing through on its way to theOlympic Games.

Premier Brad Wall also attended yesterday's announcement, and says no one will forget this once-in-a-lifetime chance to see the Olympic flame up close and in-person, not just in the southwest, but all over Saskatchewan.

The 2010 Torch Relay is the longest domestic relay in Olympic history, travelling 45,000 kilometres. The relay starts October 30, 2009 in Victoria, BC, and will end at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver for the games' opening ceremonies on February 12, 2010.
