Kenny Jinks picked up a complete game shutout as the Swift Current 57's blanked the Medicine Hat Mavericks 2-0 in a Canada Day matchup at Athletic Park.

Jinks struck out six batters and allowed just three hits and one walk for his second win of the season. Gerrit Erickson was the losing pitcher for Medicine Hat.

Both Swift Current runs came in the fifth inning, and both were unearned as Justin Barnes scored on a fielding error that saw Thomas Collins reach second base, and Tejean Smith then hit a double to bring him home.

The 57's improve to 15-12, and remain four games back of the Moose Jaw Miller Express for the WCBL East Division lead after Moose Jaw beat Weyburn 16-5 on Friday.

Swift Current has the day off on Saturday before they travel to Regina to take on the Red Sox on Sunday afternoon, then they return home on Monday to host Moose Jaw.
