The Swift Current 57's mounted a comeback after falling behind early in Regina, but came up short in a 10-7 loss to the Red Sox on Friday night.

The 57's were trailing 6-0 after four innings until a four-run top of the fifth which included RBI singles by Justin Barnes and Cory Bonstrom. Adam Golby scored on a wild pitch and Barnes later scored on a sacrifice fly by Logan Grant.

Regina added two runs in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the eighth to go up 10-4. In the top of the ninth, Grant brought home Bonstrom on a fielder's choice, and Brody Alexandre hit a two-run home run to put the 57's within three with just one out, but after Owen Stevenson walked, Nick Chavez flew out to left field and Golby struck out to end the ball game.

Starter Trent Greek allowed four earned runs on four hits over two innings to take the loss. Zander Oudie-Senger got the win for Regina.

The Swift Current 57's fall to 27-27 heading into their final two games of the regular season, a doubleheader on Saturday against the Weyburn Beavers. Weyburn fell out of playoff contention after a 10-4 loss in a must-win game against the Medicine Hat Mavericks on Friday. With that result, the WCBL East Division playoff picture is set with first-place Regina taking on fourth-place Medicine Hat in the first round, while the third-place 57's will face the second-place Moose Jaw Miller Express. The best-of-three series will start early next week.

The first game of Saturday's doubleheader is a make-up game from one that was rained out in Weyburn in July, so the Beavers will be designated as the home team and will bat last for the scheduled seven-inning contest. That game will begin at 4:05pm from Mitchell Field, with the regularly scheduled game set for 7:05pm.
