The Swift Current 57's waited until the eighth inning to get on the board against the Medicine Hat Mavericks, but they made it count in a 5-2 win Thursday night at Athletic Park to extend their winning streak to seven straight games.

The Mavericks scored two runs in the second inning and the score remained 2-0 after seven innings, when Swift Current broke the goose egg with Thomas Collins coming home on a wild pitch. In the top of the ninth, Cory Bonstrom brought home Adam Golby on an RBI single to tie the game, and the 57's got some breathing room with an RBI single from Logan Stockton to drive in Bonstrom, a sacrifice fly by Collins to bring home Justin Barnes, and Mathew ward brought home Stockton with an RBI triple to wrap up the scoring.

Starter Kenny Jinks struck out eight batters over 7.2 innings, while Zack Stylianou got the win after picking up the final out of the eighth inning. Trent Greek got the last three outs in the ninth to pick up the save. Zac Robinson took the loss for Medicine Hat.

The 57's move to 25-23 and are 2.5 games back of both the Moose Jaw Miller Express and Regina Red Sox, who are tied for first in the East Division. Brooks doubled up Moose Jaw 4-2 and Lethbridge edged Regina 6-5 in other WCBL action on Thursday.

Swift Current and Medicine Hat play again on Friday night at Mitchell Field starting at 7:05pm.
