The Swift Current 57's kicked off a seven-game road trip with a 7-1 loss to the Moose Jaw Miller Express on Thursday night at Ross Wells Park.

The Millers opened the scoring as Luke LaChance came home on a Michael Speck sacrifice fly in the second inning. Austin Gurney cashed in Thomas Soto with an RBI triple in the fifth, and then scored on a double by Nate Mensik who then came home on a Parker Dorrance single to make it 4-0 for Moose Jaw.

Swift Current's Ethan Murdoch hit a solo home run in the top of the seventh for his first-career WCBL homer to make it 4-1, but the Millers would add two more runs in the bottom half of the inning with Mensik scoring on an RBI single by Dawson Tweet, who then came home on a passed ball to make the score 6-1. Speck scored on a fielding error in the eighth inning to wrap up the scoring for Moose Jaw.

Patrick Tangen took the loss on the mound, allowing four runs on seven hits over four innings. Brayan Villar pitched five scoreless innings and struck out nine batters to get the win for Moose Jaw.

The 57's (2-3) continue their road swing in Medicine Hat on Friday night.

Late rally falls short for U18 AAA 57's

The Swift Current U18 AAA 57's rallied with five runs in the seventh inning, but the comeback fell short in a 15-11 loss to the Regina Athletics on Thursday night. Rydell Adair went 3-for-5 with 4 RBI and also Wesley Olson drove in a pair of runs for the 57's, who head to Saskatoon to face the Cubs and Giants this weekend. The Kal Tire U15 AAA 57's are also in the Bridge City this weekend to face the Astros and the Brewers.

In the Sask-Alta League on Thursday, the Cabri River Rats beat the Climax Cardinals 8-2, and the Gull Lake Greyhounds blanked the Hazlet Elks 11-0.
