The Swift Current 57’s had the night off Thursday night, but they’ll return to action tonight when they face the Beavers in Weyburn to wrap up a seven-game road trip.

The 57’s will then play their first home game since May 31st when they welcome the Regina Red Sox to Mitchell Field on Saturday night.

In the Sask-Alta league Thursday night, the Swift Current Yard Goats doubled up the Climax Cardinals 4-2, the Hazlet Elks edged the Cabri River Rats 14-12 and the Richmound Rockets beat the Maple Creek Mohawks 14-1.

This weekend's minor ball schedule has the 18U AAA 57's hosting the White Butte Broncos in their only game of the weekend on Sunday at 1:00pm.

Wolverines set for doubleheader against SWAT

The Swift Current Wolverines will play their last two home games of the regular season on Saturday when they play a double-header against the Saskatoon SWAT. The Wolverines are in a tie with the Prince Albert Predators for first in the PGLL with a 7-1-1 record.

The games start at 1:00pm and 7:00pm from S3 Arenas.

Minor lacrosse action has the U11 Rampage hosting Moose Jaw and Regina tomorrow to wrap up the regular season, while the U15 Rampage head to Regina and the U17’s travel to Moose Jaw. 

Panthers get on the board in Stanley Cup Final

Matthew Tkachuk tied the game with 2:13 left in the third and Carter Verhaeghe scored in the extra frame to give the Florida Panthers a 3-2 win over the Vegas Golden Knights in game three of the Stanley Cup Final.

Florida won its first-ever Stanley Cup game to cut their series deficit to 2-1. Game four is on Saturday night.

Meanwhile, Shaunavon’s Kole Lind had three assists as the Coachella Valley Firebirds blanked the Hershey Bears 5-0 in game one of the AHL’s Calder Cup Final. Game two of the series is also on Saturday.

Jays beat Astros to win series against defending champs

Brandon Belt hit the go-ahead RBI single, and Jose Berrios allowed two runs over six innings as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Houston Astros 3-2 to take three of four games against the defending World Series champions and win the season series 4-3.

The Jays start a three-game home series against the Minnesota Twins tonight. Yusei Kikuchi will start for Toronto in the opener.

Lions beat Stampeders to open CFL season

Dominique Rhymes caught two touchdown passes and Vernon Adams Jr. threw for 176 yards as the BC Lions beat the Calgary Stampeders 25-15 to open the CFL season Thursday night.

Winnipeg hosts Hamilton tonight while Montreal welcomes Ottawa on Saturday. The Saskatchewan Roughriders play their season opener in Edmonton on Sunday.

Conners leads the way after round one of Canadian Open

Listowel, Ontario's Corey Conners is on top of a crowded leaderboard at the RBC Canadian Open in Toronto. The top-ranked Canadian golfer on the PGA Tour is in a four-way tie for the lead at five-under par after the first round.

Fellow Canadians Mackenzie Hughes, Taylor Pendrith and Roger Sloan are two shots back in a tie for 13th.
