The CFIA has confirmed a positive cattle death from Anthrax.

Cattlemen are being reminded to check their animals on a regular basis and investigate any suspicious deaths.

This follows news of a positive case of Anthrax being found in the Chaplin area.

Veterinarian Doctor, Doug Mann, says Anthrax is an environmental disease.

He says the originating farm where the animal was found has been quarantined.

Producers within a six-kilometer radius from the originating farm will be notified and encouraged to vaccinate their herds as a precaution.

Doctor Mann adds that if producers should have a suspicious animal death on their farm, they should notify their veterinarian immediately.

An Anthrax outbreak in the Melfort area has killed about 200 animals including cattle, sheep, horses, pigs, bison and white tail deer.
