The Swift Current Children's Choir entertained at the Relay For Life launch

It was cool and windy, but a good crowd came out for the Relay For Life launch Thursday night.

17 teams have already registered for this years' Relay For Life in Swift Current and organizers are hoping to have over 40 for the June Event.

The evening included entertainment from the Swift Current Children's Choir, and 2011 SCMA Female Vocalist Of The Year Catherine Lewans.

Guest Speaker Arlene McKenzie, who is a 6 and a half year cancer survivor, spoke about her journey, and has seen first hand the importance of Relay For Life and the money it raises:

Last years' Relay For Life in Swift Current raised $105,000 and organizers are hoping to meet or beat that total this year.

You can register a team by going to the Canadian Cancer Society office on 1st Avenue Northeast in Swift Current, or go to the website www.cancer.ca.

This year's Relay For Life in Swift Current is June 11 and 12.
