Southwest Saskatchewan may be in for another warmer winter, thanks to a South American body of water.

 

This coming from Senior Climatologist with Environment Canada David Phillips.

"What we know about this winter is we have an El Nino episode. This warm pool of water that sits off South America. It does have an effect on our winters" says Phillips. "If you look at the last ten El Nino's on the prairies, nine of those were warmer than normal. Only one was colder than normal."
