2019 was truly the Year of the Volunteer in Swift Current.

The city played host to some of the biggest events the community had ever seen, including Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada last February, the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in November, and the biggest of all, the Western Canada Summer Games in August, along with our big annual events like Frontier Days, the Windscape Kite Festival and the CCA Finals Rodeo. None of those events would have been possible without the help of thousands of volunteers who stepped up and gave their time to help make these events a success and put Swift Current on the map.

The City of Swift Current is showing their appreciation with a free Volunteer Recognition Event at the Stockade Building at Kinetic Exhibition Park from 11-3 on Sunday, February 16, which includes a chance to catch up with fellow volunteers, activities for the kids, and a free concert featuring Saskatchewan's Brad Johner and the Johner Boys.

Mayor Denis Perrault and Brad Woods from the City of Swift Current joined Colin on the Magic Morning Show to talk about this event.
