Ken Cheveldayoff is the latest MLA to announce he's leaving Cabinet to run for the Saskatchewan Party leadership.

The parks minister joins Tina Beaudry-Mellor and Jeremy Harrison as confirmed candidates for the January 27 Saskatchewan Party election.

Cheveldayoff is the representative for Saskatoon-Willowgrove and has held a seat in Regina since 2003.

Some of the portfolios he's also been the minister responsible for include Crown Corporations, Enterprise and First Nations and Metis Relations.

Beaudry-Mellor, the MLA for Regina University, was the first to announce she's running. The former political science professor was voted in for the first time in 2016, and says her fresh perspective is an advantage for a party citing the need for "renewal" as a reason for change.

Harrison is the representative for Meadow Lake and the minister of economy. He was first elected in 2007.
