It looks like smooth sailing weather-wise this week around the Swift Current area.

The only hope for precipitation comes Tuesday overnight into Wednesday, otherwise, it's clear skies and slightly below seasonal-average temperatures.

Terri Lang, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, said a system developing in the United States currently might bring farmers in the area some rain.

"What we would probably call a Wyoming or Colorado low, it's taking a straight west to east path thought," she said. "Again we might see some cloud over the southwest, might clip the southwest corner.

"All of the heavier amounts are forecast to be south of the border, so if anything does come through it looks more like showers and that type of thing."

Daytime highs for the week are mostly expected to range from 7 C to 14 C, with today and Sunday being the warmest.

"Some of the temperatures will run slightly colder than average through the mid-week, just because we're getting more of an arctic high that's coming in," Lang said. "What that tends to do is bring sort of that colder air in, so we might see some colder overnight lows."

According to Environment Canada, Thursday night is shaping up to be the coldest night of the week at -9 C.
