Shaunavon businessman, Kyle Bennett, announced on Sunday that he is seeking the nomination for the Conservative Party for the federal riding of Cypress Hills Grasslands.

Bennett was born and raised  on a mixed farm and graduated from Olds College with two diplomas related to fields in the Energy Sector.

Kyle and his wife, Jennifer, came to Shaunavon in 2008 with their three children and he is a firm believer in community involvement and currently serves on numerous boards and organizations in Shaunavon.

He says, "Well, I decided to run because I've got a strong background in Agriculture and Oil and Gas, and I love small businesses. I've been involved in municipal politics for the past three terms in town here. I just feel that they way things are going now with the Federal Government, they're not really doing anything to help us out."

Bennett feels that there are a number of important issues at stake. "I'm concerned  about the economy. It affects small business. It affects everybody's livelihood out in our riding here. Everything that we are involved with in this area relates back to Agriculture, Oil and Gas, and Tourism."

He adds that his main goals, if elected, would be to build pipelines, address the Carbon Tax issue, repair and expand relationships with our agricultural trading partners, and work on getting people back to work and help business grow.
