That’s two topics that Stephan Dion, Leader of the Liberals, wants to talk about.

Liberal Leader, Stephan Dion, is committed to the protection of the Canadian Wheat Board. He talked this week during a meeting with farmers in Winnipeg.

He says the CWB is a great tool for growers, and it should not be attached in the way it has been in recent weeks by the Harper government.

Dion stresses that, in the next federal election, the Grits will offer a pro board platform that clearly indicates farmers will have the final say on the agency’s future.

Dion also being quite critical of the Conservatives $345 million investment into the biofuels sector.

Mr. Dion feels the plan laid out yesterday is unlikely to even reach its models goals of 5% renewable content in gasoline by 2010, and 2% renewable content in diesel by 2012.

Dion is also concerned about the $200 million in repayable capital funding put up by the Tories.

He says it will be directly tied to investment by farmers, meaning before any government funding flows to develop biofuels production, Canadian farmers will have to first shell out their own money.

Dion stresses that by refusing to make direct investments ethanol expansion may not grow as fast as it could.
