Canadian Blood Services says they have hit an all time low in donation numbers and the biggest decrease in their inventory in five year, and is asking the public for help.

Today from 9:00am to 3:00pm a mobile clinic will be set up at the Bridgeway Community Church in Swift Current to give people a chance to donate.

The organization says the summer months are when the inventory is stressed the most, adding when the weather warms up, activity increases such as vehicles on the road. The more vehicle accidents the more donors are needed to save a life.

In order to increase their numbers, Canadian Blood Services have partnered up with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the BleedGreen Campaign, which allows you to be entered into a draw for Rider home game tickets when you donate blood in a Saskatchewan Blood Drive. Another campaign currently running called Donor Get Donor encourages donors to bring a family member or friend to donate with them.

Canadian Blood Serives have also been dealing with a number of appointment no shows and ask that unless potential donors can honour the appointment, they should not pledge to give blood. They add if you are aware that you will miss your appointment, you're asked to call ahead of time to inform them that you will be absent.

To book an appointment, you can go to the Canadian Blood Services Website at www.blood.ca or call 1-888-2-DONATE, and you can also download the new GiveBlood app for iOS.
