Border crossing hours are going back to pre-pandemic schedules this week.

The Honourable Marco Mendicino, Minister of Public Safety, announced the news on Monday, with the changes in operational hours taking effect this Friday.

"Border communities across Canada rely on small crossings every day,” he said in a written statement. “The expansion of hours at ports of entry all along the Canada-US border will make it easier for local residents to do everything from getting goods to market to seeing friends and family. The dedicated employees of the Canada Border Services Agency are our country’s front line, and I want to thank them for their partnership in extending hours at over 40 crossings.”

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) wrote in their announcement that this will help facilitate travel across Canada.

Saskatchewan has nine land ports of entry and one airport that will experience the shift. In the southwest, both Monchy and Climax crossings will return to seven days per week, with their hours being 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. through May 31.

Folks travelling south by land are encouraged to check the CBSA’s website for crossing hours and border wait times and to have their travel and identification documents ready upon arrival.
