A quick stop for a break at Lucky Charlies has unforeseen consequences for one downtown driver.

Mat Tomchuk, a driver for District Brewing Company out of Regina, pulled over in front of the post office so that he could go in and see if Lucky Charlies was open for a quick bit of respite.

Little did he know that mother nature had taken offence to his choice of transportation and parking space.

A branch from a tree collapsed on his vehicle.

"I was just going to see if it was open and I came back out and a big tree branch fell on top of my vehicle," recapped Tomchuk. "It just tore the top of the piece from the light or whatever."

Luckily due to the height of the vehicle, not too much damage could be dealt by the thundering timber limb. It only managed to fall a short way before it collided with the roof of the box van portion of the transport. It seems it then bounced off the box van onto the cabin roof, where it came to rest. Had the vehicle been shorter, and the branch able to gather speed and momentum, there could have been much worse repercussions for the leafy length collision.

"I don't know how much damage it is," said Tomchuk. "I was just going to call my boss and message him and show him the pictures."

Thankfully, no one was hurt, and RCMP arrived on the scene shortly to assist Tomchuk with remedying the situation.

Until the branch is cleared, it is recommended that folks find an alternative route while traffic is delayed by the clean-up.
