According to the Ministry of Highways, the bridge repair east of Swift Current is on a failed bearing pad, which provides a separation between the steel and the concrete. It is longer-term preventative maintenance and does not pose any risk for motorists.
Work is scheduled to be completed this week, and the cost is estimated at under $50,000.

Some bridge repairs on Highway 1 just west of Swift Current are starting up today and could cause some traffic jams.
Drivers heading into the city on westbound lanes will notice single-lane traffic through a 60 km/h work zone.
The work gets underway today and is expected to wrap up by next Monday evening, with crews out on the road from around 9:30 to 5:30 each day.
Folks should be prepared to stop, but delays are estimated at under 20 minutes.
