The Swift Current Broncos announced today that they have acquired 2003-born defenceman Tyson Galloway from the Calgary Hitmen, in exchange for a 2025 second-round draft pick and a 2025 third-round draft pick.

“Tyson moves well for a big body, defends hard, and is great on the penalty kill,” said Broncos General Manager Chad Leslie. “He is a character kid that will provide us with some leadership and experience.”

Galloway (6’4”/200lbs), out of Kamloops, B.C., was named the Captain of the Hitmen this season after serving as an Assistant Captain for the previous two seasons. Formerly a second-round pick, 25th overall in the 2018 WHL Draft, Galloway was then drafted by the St. Louis Blues, in the fifth round in 2021. He has since gone unsigned and is currently a free agent.

In a corresponding move, the Broncos have also traded 2003-born forward Tyson Laventure to the Victoria Royals, for a 5th Round Draft Pick in 2026.

Laventure (6’3”/201lbs), out of Lloydminster, Alta, joined the Broncos at the start of this season after a trade with the Lethbridge Hurricanes. In 39 games this season, Laventure has scored 15 goals and added 21 assists for 36 points.
