The Swift Current Broncos keep a busy pre-Christmas stretch going when they visit the Lethbridge Hurricanes tonight. 

The Broncos are coming off a split of a pair of games in Manitoba on the weekend, winning 4-3 in Winnipeg on Friday before dropping a 4-2 decision in Brandon that snapped a three-game winning streak. This will be the fourth meeting between the two teams this season, with the Hurricanes taking two games so far, and they will meet again this week for the Broncos' Teddy Bear Toss game on Saturday night.

Bedard headlines WJC Selection Camp roster

Regina Pats forward Connor Bedard highlights Hockey Canada's 29-player selection camp roster for the World Junior Hockey Championship.

Bedard, projected to be the first-overall selection at the 2023 NHL Draft, leads the WHL with 27 goals and 64 points after 28 games this season. He helped lead Canada to a gold medal at the rescheduled 2022 World Juniors in Edmonton this past summer.

Twelve other players from the WHL were named to the selection camp including returning players Carson Lambos (Winnipeg), Zack Ostapchuk (Vancouver), Logan Stankoven (Kamloops) and Olen Zellweger (Everett). Bedard is the only player selected from a Saskatchewan-based WHL team while Seattle Thunderbirds teammates Nolan Allan of Davidson and Kevin Korchinski of Saskatoon are the two Saskatchewan-born players on the selection camp roster.

The World Juniors will get underway in Halifax and Moncton on Boxing Day.

Petey gets OT winner as Canucks win wild game over Habs

Elias Pettersson scored 13 seconds into overtime as the Vancouver Canucks rallied to beat the Montreal Canadiens 7-6 in the NHL last night. Ilya Mikheyev had two goals for the Canucks, who came back from a 4-0 first period deficit. 

In other action, Nazem Kadri scored the game winner with 4:18 left in the third period as Calgary edged Arizona 3-2, and Nic Dowd broke a 2-2 tie with a goal midway through the third as Washington beat Edmonton 3-2. Former Bronco Stuart Skinner made 47 saves in the loss. 

Toronto visits the Dallas Stars, Winnipeg hosts Florida, Ottawa welcomes LA and Montreal travels to Seattle as part of a nine-game NHL schedule tonight.

Brady engineers another late comeback as Bucs edge Saints

Another classic comeback from Tom Brady helped the Tampa Bay Buccaneers edge the New Orleans Saints 17-16 in the NFL Monday Nighter.

Brady threw for two touchdowns in the final three minutes of the fourth quarter as the Bucs rallied from 13 points down.

Women's pro soccer league could start in Canada in 2025

A new women’s professional soccer league could be coming to Canada. 

Canadian women’s team captain Christine Sinclair and her former teammate Diana Matheson announced last night they plan to start a domestic league in 2025 with eight clubs across the country. Canada is the defending Olympic champion in women’s soccer, but most of the top players are with teams in the United States or Europe. 

In the World Cup, Croatia needed penalty kicks to get past Japan while Brazil steamrolled past Korea 4-1 to set up a quarter-final matchup. Morocco faces Spain and Portugal takes on Switzerland to wrap up the round of 16 today.
