The Swift Current Broncos will take a quick trip to Alberta this weekend to wrap up WHL action before the Christmas Break. 

They’ll make their first visit to Edmonton tonight to face the Oil Kings, a team the Broncos have beaten twice at home this season. Tomorrow, they’ll travel to Red Deer to take on the Rebels in their last game of the first half.

You can catch both games on the Eagle 94.1 FM with Living Sky Casino Broncos hockey starting at 7:30pm tonight and tomorrow.

In other WHL action tonight, Moose Jaw hosts Regina, Saskatoon welcomes Spokane, Brandon hosts Winnipeg, Medicine Hat entertains Red Deer and Lethbridge hosts Kelowna.

Busy weekend for Minor Hockey

The Home Hardware Legionnaires play their last league games before the Circle K Classic when they host the Tisdale Trojans tomorrow at 8:00pm and Sunday at 1;45pm from InnovationPlex.

The Innovation Credit Union Wildcats wrap up the first half of their schedule when they visit the Prince Albert Bears this weekend. The Wildcats also announced this morning that Caitlyn Perlinger has committed to playing hockey with the University of Calgary Dinos next season. The Kindersley product has scored 12 goals and 35 points in 62 career games played with the Wildcats.

The Source for Sports U18 AA Broncos have road games against the Prairie Storm, Estevan, and Weyburn. The Pure Chem U15 Broncos host Humboldt tomorrow at 5:15pm from S3 Arenas, and the SWT U13 Broncos visit Moose Jaw tomorrow and host Melville on Sunday morning at 11:00am.

The Full Line Ag U18 AA Wildcats visit the Regina Rebels and Parkland Fire this weekend, the Graphic Edge U15 Wildcats welcome the Prairie Storm Lightning tomorrow at 6:15pm and Sunday and 1:30pm, and the WW Smith U13 Wildcats visit Estevan tomorrow and Sunday.

Marner's point streak ends as Leafs fall to Rangers

Mitch Marner’s franchise record point streak was stopped at 23 games as the Toronto Maple Leafs fell 3-1 to the New York Rangers last night. Jimmy Vesey had two goals and Igor Shesterkin made 22 saves for the Rangers. 

Meanwhile, Kyle Connor scored the overtime winner from former Bronco Adam Lowry as Winnipeg beat Nashville 2-1, John Klingberg scored twice as Anaheim beat Montreal 5-2, and Jordan Kyrou had the shootout winner as St. Louis beat Edmonton 4-3. Calgary hosts the Blues as part of a light three-game NHL schedule tonight.

In women’s hockey, Sarah Nurse scored the game-winner as Canada beat the USA 3-2 in a Rivalry Series game to snap a three-game losing streak to the Americans. Blayre Turnbull and Jamie Lee Rattray also scored for Canada.

"Mr. Irrelevant" leads 49ers to division title

Rookie quarterback Brock Purdy, the very last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, threw two touchdown passes to George Kittle to the lead the San Francisco 49ers to a 21-13 win over the Seattle Seahawks to clinch their first NFC West title since 2019. Purdy threw for 217 yards in only the second start of his career.
