The Swift Current Broncos will play in the United States for the first time in five years when they visit the Portland Winterhawks tonight. 

The last time the Broncos played in the US was on May 11, 2018, when Swift Current fell 6-3 to the Everett Silvertips in game five of the WHL Championship Final. The Broncos returned home to clinch the title two days later.

The Broncos have won three of their last five games and are coming off a 4-3 comeback win in overtime over the Medicine Hat Tigers on Sunday. Swift Current will also face the Silvertips on Saturday before travelling to Seattle, Tri-City and Spokane next week.

Tonight's game can be heard live on the Eagle 94.1 with Living Sky Casino Broncos Hockey starting with the pre-game show at 8:30pm.

Moose Jaw hosts Brandon, Saskatoon visits Red Deer, Lethbridge hosts Winnipeg and Edmonton welcomes Calgary as the WHL comes back from a week-long break.

Legionnaires visit the Battlefords while Wildcats face the Rebels

The Home Hardware Legionnaires head north to face the Battlefords Stars in a pair of games this weekend. They'll return home to face the Notre Dame Hounds on Tuesday night.

The Innovation Credit Union Wildcats will take on the league-leading Regina Rebels for two games this weekend in the Queen City. Swift Current is five points back of Regina and can take over the top spot with two regulation wins.

In AA hockey, the Source for Sports U18 Broncos have three road games against the Regina Rangers, Melville Millionaires and Lumsden/Bethune Lions this weekend. The Full Line Ag U18 Wildcats host the Notre Dame Hounds Saturday at 8:00pm and the North East Aces Sunday at 1:45pm from InnovationPlex.

The Pure Chem U15 Broncos host the Melville Millionaires Saturday at 5:30pm at InnovationPlex and the Regina Pat Blues Sunday at 1:30pm from S3 Arenas. The SWT U13 Broncos host Estevan on Saturday at 3:00pm from InnovationPlex and Lumsden on Sunday at 1:00pm at S3 Arenas, and the WW Smith U13 Wildcats will visit Weyburn for two games this weekend.

Wings edge Habs on Fabri's OT winner

Robby Fabri scored the overtime winner as the Detroit Red Wings edged the Montreal Canadiens 4-3 in NHL action on Thursday night. Elsewhere, Tage Thompson had a goal and an assist as Buffalo beat Winnipeg 3-2 and rookie goalie Jaxson Stauber made 34 saves as Chicago beat Calgary 5-1.

Four Canadian teams are in NHL action tonight with Toronto hosting Ottawa, Calgary travelling to Seattle and Vancouver hosting Columbus.

Djokovic cruises to Aussie Open final, looking for 10th title in Melbourne

Novak Djokovic cruised to a straight sets win over American Tommy Paul in the men’s semi-final of the Australian Open this morning. 

The 9-time winner at Melbourne Park and 21-time grand slam champion will face Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece in Sunday’s final. Tsitsipas defeated Russia’s Karen Khachanov in the other semi-final. 

Elena Rybakina faces Aryna Sabalenka in the women’s final early Saturday morning.

Rush return home to face expansion Desert Dogs

The Saskatchewan Rush will play on their home floor for the first time in nearly a month when they host the expansion Las Vegas Desert Dogs in NLL action at SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon on Saturday night.

The Rush last played at home on New Year's Eve, an 11-9 win over Panther City. They're coming off an 11-10 overtime loss to the Colorado Mammoth in Denver on January 13.
