The Swift Current Broncos will face the Moose Jaw Warriors in the second round of the WHL playoffs starting next week.

The matchup was confirmed after the Saskatoon Blades eliminated the Prince Albert Raiders with a 6-2 win in game five of their series at SaskTel Centre on Friday night. The regular season champion Blades will now face the Red Deer Rebels, who knocked out the Medicine Hat Tigers with a 5-2 game five win at Co-op Place on Friday.

The Broncos are coming off a four-game sweep of the Lethbridge Hurricanes, clinching the series with a 5-4 double-overtime victory on Wednesday night. The Warriors advanced with a four-game sweep of their own against the Brandon Wheat Kings.

The last time the two teams met in the playoffs was in 2018, a series the Broncos won in seven games en route to capturing the Ed Chynoweth Cup. Three of the seven games in that series went to overtime.

Although the Broncos clinched the Central Division with 86 points, the Warriors finished the regular season with 96 points and will have home ice advantage after playoff re-seeding.

Games one and two will be at the Moose Jaw Events Centre on April 12 and 13, with games three and four at Innovationplex on April 16 and 17. If needed, game five will be in the Friendly City on April 19, game six in Swift Current on April 21 and game seven will be back in Moose Jaw on April 23. All games are 7:00 p.m. starts.
