The Burstall Credit Union was broken into last night, with an unknown suspect utilizing a stolen loader to accomplish the task.

Occurring sometime around 4 a.m. today, the incident reportedly involved an individual first breaking into the R.M. of Deer Forks No. 232 facilities to steal a loader.

They then used this loader to tear through the front of the Burstall Credit Union. They managed to steal an atm, break it open, take the money and flee in a stolen vehicle.

Drake May, a Swift Current resident, was brought up to speed on the situation by his mother who works at the Credit Union.

"Everyone was in bed," said May. "There was just a lot of noise happening during that time and a couple of residents went out and checked on the Credit Union and saw the damage that was done."

RCMP were on the scene today, inspecting the incident with managers from the Credit Union. May says a few cameras are being reviewed for footage of the incident and the suspect.

"There was just minimum information that was given," said May. "We're just going to let the RCMP do their job and try to track down the suspect."

Swift Current Online will provide updates on the situation and investigation as they become available.
