Residents in the northwestern portion of the Chinook School Division will be headed to the polls today to help fill a vacant trustee position.

The seat in Subdivision 1 was left behind by Shane Andrus in February and it has two people vying for the job.

Keri Hudec and Erwin Seabrook are the pair of names on the ballot looking to serve the region that encompasses schools in Leader, Burstall, Fox Valley, Haven, and Estuary.

Hudec is a teacher and municipal employee according to her bio on the Chinook School Division's website.

"As my children attend school within Subdivision 1, I am informed and knowledgeable about the successful applications and the improvements needed in our area regards to quality education and successful employees," she said.

And Seabrook is a retired missionary who served two terms on the Rapid View Subdivision Board of the Northwest School Division.

"If elected I will be available to hear from you about any concerns you may have," he said. "I will be in constant contact with the school community councils in each of the schools in Subdivision 1 and will take all of their concerns as well as yours directly to the board."

Four polling stations will be open today from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. The Leader Community Hall, Burstall and District Community Centre, Fox Valley Community Hall, and Prelate Town office.
