Another very exciting weekend is brewing in Southwest Saskatchewan, and there’s no better guide to follow than the Southwest Explorer.

Friday afternoon, I will be at the Kiwanis Coin Carnival in the scenic riverside park. Families from Swift Current and area will be drawn out for the fair style concessions, at incredibly low prices ranging from $0.25 to $1.00. The carnival games are looking to be a big hit with the kids, with a healthy variety of skill-testing challenges.

On Saturday, I will spend the morning amid the fun at the Celebrate Maple Creek event. See if you can spot me in the Cypress Motors Southwest Explorer F-150 during the parade. In terms of food, you can find the “Fly-In Breakfast” at the Maple Creek Air Strip, a barbecue at the Jasper Cultural & Historical Centre, pie by the slice downtown, and all sorts of concessions at the farmer’s market in Hawrylak Park.

There will be a plethora of entertainment, including an all day beer garden, live music, a car show, a quilt show, and so much more. The kids also have lots to look forward to, including bouncy castles, a bungee jump and face painting.

Later on Saturday, I will make my way back to Swift Current to soak in all the fun of Taking it to the Streets, and watch some fellow bull riders at Taking it to the Dirt in the Magnus Newland Arena. If everything goes according to plan, I should end my perfect day in the southwest at the Aaron Goodvin and Johner Brothers concert.
