The Swift Current and District Chamber of Commerce hosted their annual budget luncheon yesterday afternoon.

Swift Current Mayor Sandy Larson and provincial Finance Minister Rod Gantefoer were in attendance for the event, discussing the recent provincial budget.

The budget contained several spending initiatives, including a predictable municipal revenue sharing plan that will see cities and towns receive 90 per cent of one PST point this year. There was also increased investment in many areas like highways and agriculture.

Even with the extra spending, the budget was balanced, and is projected to carry a $424.5 Million surplus.
