The Town of Shaunavon is working to implement some changes to garbage collection in the community.

Shaunavon CAO Rhonda Bellefeuille says, "Each resident will be given or distributed a bin, and the garbage will be picked up only out of those bins. At this time, we're not exactly sure how long it will take until we have bins and have them in place. We're just in the process of going through those details now."

Bellefeuille adds that there will also be a weight limit on the bins, but that limit is still in the planning stages as well.

Garbage collection days will remain as they are now, and no local jobs will be lost.

The Town of Shaunavon held an Open House the middle of May and Bellefeuille says, from that, and from people stopping in at the Town Office, response to the changes has been good, with lots of questions asked.

She adds that, as communities change and as needs change, the Town felt it was something that was more or less a benefit and a move that they felt prudent to make.
