The provincial budget was released this week, and it had an increase in funding to Saskatchewan's school divisions.

This will mean a 1.5 percent increase in revenues for the Chinook School Division, but Board Chairman Randy Beler says they may still need more money in order to balance the books.  Their preliminary projections show that they need about $1.2 million more to balance their budget.

Beler says they first want to make sure they know what the numbers are, but they do recognize they may not be able to maintain their current level of service.  If cuts have to be made, they'll make them as far away from the classroom as possible.

Beler adds, they still acknowledge the government for making education a priority in a restraint budget.
