Beginning on April 15, Swift Current residents will be able to dispose of yard waste and tree branches in an environmentally friendly fashion.

The City's Infrastructure & Operations Division announced that Swift Current will be providing multiple Yard Waste bins, as well as Tree Branch bins for residents to use.

Throughout the spring, summer and fall seasons, the bins will be in use at six different locations in Swift Current.

The bins will be located at the Southside outdoor rink, the I-Plex north parking lot, 8th Avenue North West near St. Patrick Elementary School, the Wheatland Mall north parking lot, the Colonel Clifton Centre parking lot, and also at the Swift Current Library parking lot.

The City Landfill will accept loose yard waste and tree branch loads (under 500kg) free-of-charge for Swift Current residents as well.

Household waste, food waste or contaminants are not permitted in the bins.

Tree branches being deposited into the "Tree Branch" bins need to be between 2"-6" in diameter, anything larger is not permitted in the bin and should be disposed of at the landfill.

The bins will be removed November 9th.
