By mid-summer, Swift Current City Council expects to have a proposal as to what type of residential development will occupy the old hospital site.

     The 8.64 acre lot is zoned Parkway, and R2 to R3, which leaves room for low- to high-density, multi-unit zoning.

     Councillor Tim Keene says they will be accepting proposals from the public as to what type of development they would like to see there.  He says this is the type of project where a proposal should be looked at, adding that it's not terribly time consuming, and proposals are a good way to stay on top of the issue.

     Whatever type of development is built there, residents will have close access to the Swift Current Creek, schools and the downtown area.  Keene adds that the Cypress Hills College has agreed to make any necessary alterations so as to complement the new development.
