The Swift Current Comp Colts boys soccer team opened their season over the weekend with a victory.

In Moose Jaw squaring off against the Yorkton Sacred Heart Saints, the Colts were able to eke out a 3-2 win.

Swift Current's Zachary Kielo opened the game's scoring and Rowan Reimer netted a pair of goals.

Colts goalkeeper Jared Steinley sealed the win with a last-minute penalty kick save.

"The Colts have a young roster with only two grade 12 and three grade 11 players returning to action," Colts Head Coach Christopher Garner said. "The standout play of Austyn Funk, Devin Kalenchuk, Luke Harll, and Zachary Kielo on defence paired with the calm control of Rowan Reimer, Carter Munro, Kai Haubrich, and Charlie Weinbender in the midfield enable fast and hard attacking plays from our strikers Ashton Munro and Jonathyn Dyke. The foundation of the team was Jared Steinly as keeper as he set the formation and pushed the Colts upfield."

The Colts will host their home opener at Irwin Field on Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. with Moose Jaw Central visiting.
