A new piece of machinery is set up at the Swift Current Landfill.

The city is teaming up with local contractor Steve's Excavating to recycle waste concrete, pavement and glass. A crusher has been purchased for the purpose.

Engineering Technologist Dan Knutson says this will help clear the huge stockpiles of concrete and pavement around the landfill, and they can crush it into smaller material that can be re-used in road structures.

Knutson adds the material will be used in the landfill itself for filling in roadways, and they will crush some pavement so it can be re-used in new pavement or used as a dust-free topping for alleys. It will also be made available to consumers through Steve's Excavating.
