construction sign

The Canada Day long weekend is almost here, but it won't be a weekend off for some highway workers in Saskatchewan.

Steve Shaheen with the Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure said crews will be working on several projects throughout the province and reminds drivers to be careful.

"Remember to plan ahead, have patience and arrive safely," said Shaheen. "Motorists can use the highway information to help plan efficient and safe road trips this summer. If they're travelling through a construction zone, allow extra time."

In the meantime, work on the truck climbing lane on Highway 4 at Saskatchewan Landing has been put on hold until the contractor returns in July, and drivers will not be impacted by the project this weekend.

Other major projects in Saskatchewan this weekend include patching work on Highway 7 near Rosetown and Saskatoon, and work on the West Regina Bypass. Traffic signals are up on the intersection of Highway 1 and Pinkie Road west of the Queen City.

You can look at current construction on the Ministry's website or by calling the Highway Hotline at 1-888-335-7623.
