It's going to be a chilly next couple of days and nights in southwestern Saskatchewan.

An Alberta clipper rolled through the region on the weekend and in behind it was some cool arctic air.

Terri Lang, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, said the colder weather leading into winter is here.

"We are really into the cooler temperatures and it looks like it's going to continue at least for the bulk of this week," she said. "Thirty-year average highs for this time of year are around plus 3 C and overnight lows around -8 C, so we're going to struggle (this week) to just get above the freezing mark."

The next three nights' lows are expected to range between -14 and -19 and Lang said that she doesn't think people have prepared themselves for this kind of weather yet.

"It's pretty darn cool and there is some wind with that too, so the wind chills are starting to creep up there," she said. "Based on how people were driving yesterday, people are definitely not in that mindset yet."

Lang added that she's even seen people driving with flip-flops in November this year just further illustrating how most people aren't prepared for the winter yet.
