A couple-hundred-thousand-dollar project that should improve water flow to northeast and northwest parts of Swift Current was awarded in city council Monday night.

Council approved Associated Engineering's proposed fee of $199,976 (including PST, but not GST) for designing an additional wet well and installing larger pumps to the North Hill Reservoir Pump Station.

According to the City, expansion into the development of the northeast part of Swift Current continues to apply additional pressure to the existing water distribution system.

The City issued an invitation-only request for proposal (RFP) to six consultants in December, and deemed Associated Engineering's as having the best value of the four that were received.

The upgrade has a capital budget amount of $200,000.

Swift Current Chief Financial Officer Tim Marcus gave the report on behalf of General Manager of Infrastructure and Operations Mitch Minken, who wasn't present.
