An Elrose woman who runs a shelter out of her home will not get back the animals that were seized from her by the Saskatchewan SPCA earlier this month.

Court of Queen's Bench in Saskatoon dismissed Dolores LaPlante's claims that the SPCA obtained a search warrant under false pretenses, and raided her shelter on January 12th.

The Society removed LaPlante's 64 cats, seven turtles, an iguana and her pet dog from the shelter, which were all found to be in a state of distress. The judgement says the health of the cats was compromised by a lack of control over sanitary conditions and no access to basic food or water.

In a press release issued Friday morning, the SPCA says the court injunction granted to LaPlante last week that prevents adoption and euthanaisa of the seized animals has been lifted, and they will now begin the process of finding new homes for the animals, which are currently being housed at the Saskatoon SPCA Shelter.
