A man from Swift Current is ready to dual with Hollywood over the rights to the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon franchise.

Dr. Hong Wang is a scientist at the research centre here in the city. His father wrote the original story that became the award-winning martial arts film in 2000.

Both he and his sister were the inheriters of the rights to the mythical story, including four other books in the series.

Now, Comlumbia Pictures is suing Wang for the rights to the books in Saskatchewan court, saying he verbally agreed to the deal.

Wang says he already signed a deal with Weinstein Pictures last December.

Although Dr. Wang declined an interview, he said any attention is better than no attention at all. He said he was pleased with the first movie of his father's work and hopes to see a sequel or prequel in the near future.
