For many of Swift Current's elderly, their afternoons were filled with activities and food as they received some community recognition.

As part of SIGA's third annual Day of Sharing, Swift Current's Living Sky Casino hosted an event bringing together seniors in the area.

Tea, games, and music were all offered to local elders as a sign of appreciation.

Lindsay Gerbrandt, senior operations manager with Living Sky Casino, said that their volunteers were working to provide an entertaining afternoon.

"In First Nations culture, valuing the elders is a very, very, important part of that culture, and that's something that we wanted to show our appreciation [for] as well."

She said that community outreach such as this are factors in making them good corporate citizens.

"This entire event, the Day of Sharing, speaks to our guiding principle of 'witaskewin.' That is the value of sharing the land or sharing resources, and this guides us to give back to the communities that we live in and operate in as much as possible."

She said that taking time away from the day-to-day routine and giving back was an accomplishment that Day of Sharing had under its belt.

Other SIGA properties such as their Central Office, and other casinos also participated in the event.
