Operating a snowmobile after drinking alcohol is just as dangerous as driving a car while impaired.

Peter Huebner, Coordinator of the Council's Snowmobile Safety Program says that three quarters of all snowmobile injuries involve alcohol.

Huebner says riders who drink before snowmobiling are at a greater risk of getting hypothermia, have a heightened sense of fatigue, and are in a confused mental state.

Riders can learn more about the dangers of combining alcohol and snowmobiling through the Safety Council's Snowmobile Safety Courses, which are offered throughout the riding season.
