Saskatchewan highways and roads have seen a number of accidents and fatalities in recent weeks.

Premier Brad Wall says no matter how much legislation, driving laws and tougher penalties the government introduces, it's ultimately up to drivers to take care and drive defensively:

One piece of legislation the Saskatchewan Government introduced this year to make the roads safer was making it illegal to use a cell phone and text while driving.

Wall adds it's even more important for people to drive with caution now that winter weather has arrived.  He says there are public awareness campaigns underway, put on by SGI and the Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways, to remind people to drive safe and use caution in winter weather.
