The annual event is being held in Edmonton in conjunction with Northlands Fall Fair.

Spokesperson Helgi Bye says attendance is expected to be strong since the event was last held in Canada back in 1986.

"We have people from 21 different countries registered to come, including a couple from places I didn't know had charolais.  It's going to be a great event, there's lots of people from around the world coming in.  It's going to be a huge show, probably the biggest charolais show that we've had in many years.

Bye says about 200 international visitors will be taking part along with another 300 to 400 purebred breeders.
