Wednesday's deadline to submit candidacy is right around the corner.

Another candidate has announced their intent to run for city council in this year's election.

Lance Baumann, owner and operator of multiple Swift Current Businesses, has thrown his name in the conversation.

Baumann says he loves the city and cares about its development.

"I'm pretty much a 'lifer' in this city and I really do care about the downtown as well as other areas of the city.

Everything has to be fair as far as taxation is concerned - whether up on the highway or downtown.

"It's important to make sure every area is equally represented with the tax dollars that are being spent across the city," he said

Baumann also briefly shared his views on infrastructure spending in the city.

"The current council has done many wonderful things - Infrastructure is probably the most thankless thing Council can do.

Nobody even realizes it's being done and the money is being spent, and we still go in debt even though we're maintaining something that we already have.

However, I don't believe any public money should be put up for private business," he said.

The deadline to submit is Wednesday at 4:00pm.

The election will take place on October 26th.
